Mommy To Be Corsages
For the shower, I made a Mommy to Be Corsage and a Nani to Be Corsage but my sister was afraid they would get ruined so we decided to use them as decor instead and they looked beautiful on the candy table. You can certainly buy them online, I see them on Etsy and they are gorgeous but if you are on a budget…Here’s a quick tutorial on how to make a Corsage.
- Box Cutter
- Bar Glass
- White Felt
- Different length ribbon–Your ribbons should decrease in size so that you have the biggest on the outer layer and then each one gets smaller as you move in.
- Hot Glue Gun
Flip the bar glass upside down so that the rim faces the cardboard. Then use the box cutter to trace a small circle out.
Use the cardboard circle to trace a circle on the felt (two sides) and then cut it out.
Hot glue the felt onto the cardboard circle. Press and hold for a minute to make sure the felt sticks to the cardboard.
It doesn’t have to be this big, it can be smaller, depends what kind of glass you use to cut the outline.
The first ribbon I used is about 1″ wide and about 14″ long. Cut 4 of these and place them out. The print should be facing down.
Now put a little bit of hot glue in the center of this ribbon.
You are going to place the next ribbon across and hold it down for a moment so the hot glue sticks. Then repeat by adding a little hot glue in the center of the ribbon.
That way your next ribbon again sticks.
You want to make sure all the ribbons are connected by the center and it should look like an X on top and X on the bottom.
There’s probably an easier way to do that, but that’s the way that I did it.
Okay moving on…
Next your going to fold the ribbon in. And add a little bit of hot glue to the top edge of the ribbon. That way when you bring the bottom part in it sticks together.
I know my ribbon looks messy…No worries, this is not the original one I used. I decided to do a tutorial after I had made the corsages.
Now you’re just going to do the same thing with each end.
Like the diaper cake you’re going to repeat your steps. You’re going to do the same exact steps for your next three ribbons sizes. Remember to make sure each ribbon is smaller.
So now you have all your ribbons in flower shapes and your going to glue them all together. Add a small drizzle of hot glue to the center of the biggest ribbon and then connect them, repeating the steps. That way your smallest bow flower is on top.
Then on the top ribbon you’re going to glue your embellishment. I picked an anchor. Press and hold so that it doesn’t pop off.
Now pick out some smaller ribbon. I have chosen four different kinds and cut them into strips.
3 It’s a Girl
3 Pink Polk a Dots
3 Aqua Polk a Dots
And I alternated the ribbon, gluing them each to the felt until I ran out of room.
Finally you’re going to glue the back of the felt, and the ribbon the tips of the ribbon that are attached to the felt and attach it to your largest ribbon. Press and hold.
A perfect gift for the Mommy to Be and Nani to Be
